"A daughter is a daughter all her life"

 It's an Irish saying-

"A daughter is a daughter all her life"

The third born, after two daughter's again,it was visibly clear that my parents wanted a son.My brother then came to our lives and he was 7 years younger to me.Here , I am mentioning was because he is no more.

Yes,whole our lives our parents were extremely kind and they treated all of us equally. But the question always bothered me was why would they need to have a desire for a son.

I am 34 years old,a homemaker and a proud mom of two beautiful daughter's. In both my pregnancies, all I wanted was a healthy child. So during my 2nd pregnancy a Panditji (priest) saw me with baby bump and offered me an apple as holy offering. He said if I eat that apple a boy child will be born to me . However, I decided against eating not because I believed him but because he the godman's were all preaching that a boy is the best gift for a mother.

Break the silence

It's been 74 years since our country got independent. Yet the long discussed topic remains the same - a boy child is always preferred generally over a girl child, never mind the fact that this is the 21st century of cutting-edge technology and yet, I raise this issue one more time.We all know that we cannot choose gender. Two different species "Male" and "Female" are not same neither we can make them the same and each species have their own distinctive qualities. A girl brings the same joy after birth that a boy is believed to bring atleast to me and many alike.

After our brothers untimely demise my mother's world came breaking apart and we were all shattered. Never-the-less, at that point of junction in our lives, it was us three daughters who are looking after our dear mother and sister-in-law to cope with life and move on, which we being girls have done many miles better which now reflects on my mother's jovial smile.

Free your soul by giving your daughter wings to fly, guide them to touch dizzying heights of success and raise her the way world would want you to raise a son.

This change in mind-set will help not only our daughter's to have a confident and bettter life but it will also play a major role in the nations development.

Thank you.
